Lust ≠ Love Series: Lies And Truth

In our last post, we touched on the topic of maintaining virtue. Before plunging into Rebekah Factor Characteristic #3, I would like to give you a few points to ponder that I feel may help equip God’s people in maintaining Virtue. When we are faced with sinful desires or overcoming them, sometimes we are faced with lies, excuses  or even a mental battle that may result us into falling into temptation. This final post in this Lust Love Series identifies some of the lies/excuses that sinful desires tell you, Joshua Harris in his book called Sex Is Not The Problem (Lust Is) came up with scriptural weapons to fight them back with. Which lie are you familiar with?

Lie

Lust is no big deal

Truth: “For lust is a shameful sin, a crime that should be punished. It is a devastating fire that destroys to hell. It would wipe out everything I own” (Job 31:11-12)

Lie

A little sinful fantasising won’t hurt.

Truth: “To set the mind on flesh is death, but to set mind on the Spirit is life and death and peace.” (Romans 8:6)
